The Death of Compassion V: The Menace of Brother Sam

The Menace of Brother Sam!

Kill! Plunder! Destroy! Decapitate! Decimate!! The loud roar of laughter is heard outside the chambers onlookers stare helplessly and powerless like dependent infants. Liberators and yet worst oppressors! No shame!

Brother Sam meets other people today noon. The skinny bones of his siblings reflect the misery that is written on their faces. Too skinny. Yet brother Sam is the hero of the family. Brother Sam will remove the shears that trim our hairs exposing us, he'll stand for us, shouts the youngest son. Let's give him the benefit...

The wicked, naughty smile on Sam's face. "It'll be well." He assures! "Fools!" Under the armpit he smiles, sneezes and off he embarks. By noon, he has to be in the chambers with dignitaries and kings and queens.

The sirens alarm, causing panic to the sickly old widows who recall the same loud sreams that sounded when their husbands died in combat. The dust of the masquerade convoys puffs in the air. Nauseating the small children playing in the streets with dirty faces and torn clothes, some of them naked. "Bye bye brother Sam, bring us sweets!!" Poor childhood innocence. Sam is going to bring bullets and tears of blood.

Noon has passed, evening is here. The young ladies carrying their baskets to fetch dirty water. The poor hopeless boys spying on them to see who they'll lie down with from among the girls. Their feet with cracks that can draw map of the world, yellow teeth that know no brush and hopeless and lifeless they stand by the side of the road with their animals. Some having dogs and others donkeys. The masquerade bells ring again. Brother Sam is back! Prostrating and lying down to the ground they adore. Those innocent children run after the puff of the dust! Do they know what's happening? They do and are happy about it! Sad reality. They choose to lie in deep slumber and don't care!

Bro Sam, tell us what you brought us? The grannies and mothers, father's with smelling shoes and peasants open up their ears in hope but like a shattered dream, their hope extinguishes as brother Sam opens his foul mouth. Every word spoken is like a thorn on the softest fleshy part of the body. The more the words, the more gloomy the more painful, the more disastrous. "But Bro....!" Pow pow. "No But...Who are you to question me?" In a blink of an eye...an interlocutor meets his ancestors. What a shame!

All stare in hopelessness. Paralysed for a moment, they watch in awe! A glorious day turned into mourning. Their eyes, a sense of loss and absolute helplessness...their mouths open in shock and flies landing and ascending at will. We are betrayed! But we cannot do anything, we have the power but we can't do anything, they take a deep sigh. Breathe and move ahead with their misery as if nothing happened.

Meanwhile, Bro Sam's dog feast on the rotten meat of the corpses robbed of their lives. Brother Sam thrives, the proles will never stand...

Typical African societies.. No balance at all.. Hope is cast to a vulnerable man brother Sam yet very little he could do for the family behind
